Now you have at least a chance to blacklist them, which you didn't
have before (except for the IP address, which is non-trivial). 

And you can whitelist sender domains now, which you couldn't do before 
effectively. E.g. worms use mail addresses found in the local
mail box of a given PC, so the propability is high to receive worms
from a forged but known e-mail address. with LMAP, whitelisting known
e-mail addresses becomes possible.
