People give out others' email addresses, organizations give out
others' email addresses, people put email addresses on their business
cards, V-cards, letterheads, bump (a cute iphone app that lets you
exchange essentially V-cards by just bumping phones, not widely used I
don't think), facebook and other social network profiles, every msg
posted to a list like this...

I don't know why this is even being debated.
