Hi all

 

RFC 7799 is one of the key documents that record our current best
thoughts about the classification of various measurement metrics and
methods. As you can see at
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc7799/referencedby/, the document
is normatively cited by other RFCs and cited outside IPPM.

 

In order to reflect the experience so far, and taking into account the
companion document draft-ietf-opsawg-oam-characterization will be
published as a BCP, I suggest we move RFC 7799 from Informational to
BCP.

 

Please share your comments by 15/04/2026.
