Issues related to host=20 interoperability are addressed partially by the principles of the=20 service-oriented computing paradigm. However, certain technical concerns=20 relating to predictable interactions among hosts in mobile ad hoc networks = (MANETs) have not yet received much attention. This article introduces=20 ?follow-me sessions,? where interactions occur between a client and a=20 service, rather than a specific service provider. A client, thus, may=20 exploit several service providers during the course of its interaction=20 with a given service. This redundancy mitigates the effects of=20 mobility-induced disconnections, thereby facilitating reliable=20 communication. This paper covers the architecture and implementation of a=20 middleware that supports follow-me sessions and shows how this middleware=20 mitigates issues related to proxy-based service-oriented architectures in=20 mobile ad hoc networks. Unfortunately, the learning curve for semantic-rich description=20 languages such as OWL-S can be steep, especially given the current state=20 of tool support for the language. Watson Research Center, USA Applying auctions to Web services selection and invocation calls for=20 examination due to the unique features of Web services, such as=20 interoperable machine-to-machine interactions and re-enterable bargaining=20 services. In this paper, the authors propose a formal model for Web=20 services-based auctions. Examining a one-sided sealed auction type, they=20 prove mathematically that service requestors? risk preferences could lead=20 to pricing strategies with a higher profit for service providers. A basic=20 service requestor risk preference elicitation algorithm and a historical=20 data-based service requestor risk preference prediction model are=20 proposed. Walton, Carnegie Mellon University, USA Quality of Services (QoS) management in compositions of services requires=20 careful consideration of QoS characteristics of the services and effective = QoS management in their execution. This paper describes an approach to=20 implementation of QoS management in compositions of Web services in the=20 context of Computational Quality Attributes and Service Level Agreements.=20 Building on prior research work of others in the use of Message Detail=20 Records, this paper integrates the results from several research threads=20 to propose a QoS Management Architecture to support dynamic processing of=20 service- and flow-level quality attributes to support QoS requests and=20 analyses in Web-service-oriented architectures. The study of QoS=20 management in a Web service composition framework was motivated by the=20 evolution of the composition framework for a toolkit for integration and=20 experimentation of distributed system applications. A message tracking=20 model is proposed for supporting QoS end-to-end management by applying the = Computational Quality Attribute (CQA) concepts of Flow-Service-Quality=20 engineering. Quality attributes are defined, computed and acted upon as=20 dynamic characteristics of systems, with values constantly changing in=20 operation.
