As one of the authors of RFC8914, a bit of context: this was heavily discussed in the creation of RFC8914 and the decision at the time was that yes the extra-text field should exist, and should be useful for human consumption. But note that it does not state "users" as the thinking at the time was it wasn't for end-users in browsers or other contexts, but rather for logging and reading by network administrators.
