Dear DNSOP, At the IETF 126 DNSOP session on July 20, 2026, several proposals were discussed for dispatching (that is: providing advice on whether the proposed work should be in DNSOP, and if not, where it could potentially be handled). This message records the results of that. For links to drafts and slide decks, see https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/agenda-126-dnsop/ and https://datatracker.ietf.org/meeting/126/session/dnsop. # Domain Key Authorities (DKA): DNS-Designated Public Key Distribution for Email-Address Identifiers draft-swaminathan-dka-framework - Kishore Swaminathan The DKA proposal would use DNS to publish an HTTPS endpoint for distributing and validating email public keys. Discussion concluded that the problem overlaps with existing email security mechanisms, and participants questioned whether the DNS aspects were sufficiently novel. The consensus was that the work is better suited to the Security Area, particularly the OpenPGP working group, rather than DNSOP. # Domain Authority (DA): A DNS-Designated Service Endpoint for Domain Information draft-swaminathan-da - Kishore Swaminathan The Domain Authority proposal would use DNS to advertise an HTTPS API providing service endpoint information about domains. Discussion concluded that most of the work is an application-layer protocol rather than DNS, with similarities to RDAP. The authors were advised to engage with the REGEXT working group before pursuing any DNS-specific standardization. # DNS Extensions to Energy Efficiency as a Service (EEAS) draft-zhu-dnsop-de-eeas - Huahong Zhu This proposal introduced a new DNS RR to publish energy-efficiency information for services, allowing clients to prefer "greener" endpoints. Discussion focused on scope rather than technical details, with participants viewing the work as sustainability research rather than DNS protocol development. The recommendation was to pursue it in the IRTF SUSTAIN Research Group instead of DNSOP. # UTXO Domain Name System (UTXO6-DNS): Base Protocol and PRN Regulatory Extensions draft-guorong-utxo-dns - Guorong Tian The draft proposed a DNS RR for blockchain payment information and an associated .utxo namespace. Participants concluded that the broader architecture, including an alternative namespace, lies outside the IETF's DNS standards work, while a new RR type alone does not require DNSOP. No suitable home within DNSOP was identified.
