I agree with the opinion that it would be much nicer to split the RFC3335 MIME-style of message wrapping from the GISB-style since they are fundamentally different ways of signing and packaging the exchange. Having 2 documents would be easier for developers to analyze and reference. It's common for standards (for example MIME) to be split across multiple RFCs. I agree that it would be useful to maintain consistency in common areas, and could be done in a split specification.
