Sounds very BGPish or some other routing protocol, where the routing
information is 'pushed' out to the wider community so everyone gets a
complete view rather than relying on DNS for updates. This way updates
could be pushed out to these smart switches in real time rather than
sending packet after packet to get dribs and drabs of DNS information at
a time. Taking a routing approach seems more logical to me simply
because this would be a lot more efficient lookup, ram is cheap and
processing it locally would certainly reduce load on central systems etc.
