Dave,

This document cannot be fixed by a few simple wording changes, and your 
continued insistence that I only provide input in the form that you prefer 
(and that makes the document look better than it is) is, well, ridiculous.

I've said on multiple occasions that the simplest fix is to stop claiming
that the document is a general-purpose content negotiation mechanism for
SMTP, and to rename the keywords etc. appropriately to reflect that.
This wouldn't fix all of the problems with the document, but it's the single 
change that would have the greatest positive effect.

Naturally a general-purpose content-negotiation mechanism would be much better.
But we should be honest with ourselves that the current SMTP infrastructure
doesn't lend itself to that.
