As all machines that I am aware of support both POP3 or SMTP receive mode (though I have yet to see /know of an SMTP installation) perhaps making some of the service extensions valid only for SMTP mode installations? Are there any machines that support POP3 only? Vivian - The Xerox machine is most probably an OEM of Toshiba. FWIW, Innosoft's implementation, which I worked on, also works via SMTP and doesn't involve POP3. I know of several others that work via SMTP as well. And speaking purely as a participant and not as an AD, I've always considered POP3-based implementations to be flawed in any number of ways, including but not limited to the acknowledgements problem. In the past I have suggested that the relevant FAX specifications ban them outright.
