I assert that the mobile messaging crowd could find an "R" fail or forward indicator to be a useful thing.  The default in MMS is "forward" or "deliver" upon content conversion failure.  With diverse endpoints, the failure to convert into a preferred format does not preclude retrieval by a secondary means.

By way of example, when sending an image that is (to large, to colorful, uncommonly encoded) to to an endpoint with overly limited capabilities, the sender would prefer the recipient get the message converted into appropriate for for their mobile handset and so authorizes it.  But if the conversion is not supported or possible, it is important to have the message (Which cost 0.5 euro to send regardless of delivery sucess) delivered to the inbox anyway such that capability-challenged recipient can retreive it from the local cyber cafe's web terminal.   

I also find architectural comfort that deliver-by, deliver-after, and conperm have consistent handling options for the case where a downstream extension can't be supported.  It helps users to have a consistent model to understand the set of checkboxes under the "advanced delivery options" menu.

I solicit other opinions.  

As for text, I suggest the text Grame clipped from the deliver-by spec as a template.

I can imagine it, too. However, the question is whether there is a real
requirement that is needed by a real community.

If there is a constituency that does need it and indicates that they
will use it, it would be helpful to see suggested specification text to
be include.
