If you have any champagne, very good sake, or some other celebratory liqu=
id to quaff, now is the time to break it out.

I believe that this announcement marks the last step for the email protoc=
ol specifications work we have been pursuing for so long, to support fax =
functionality.  (I believe there are some additional tasks continuing, bu=
t they are in addition to the core email protocol work.)

This latest announcement concerns the specification that gave us the most=
 IETF process difficulties.  Since it defines content changes that may be=
 made by intermediaries, it was entirely reasonable that the document's d=
evelopment be challenging (and challenged). And it is not surprising that=
 some IETF folk are quite concerned about it.  (My own view is that this =
is a particularly good function for developing experience with processing=
 by intermediaries.)
