And how many years of retraining would it take to get various IETFers to stop saying “please write up a draft first?”  I think that’s much more than the “process nit” you think it is.

Considering the length of this thread, I think the simplification would be worth it.

I think this would be an incredibly bad look for the IETF in the public eye and that we would be on the defensive for years.
