I personally believe the timing for closing of the last call is too early. The comments submitted on P802.3af/D4.0 Sponsor Ballot are producing changes to the management structure. A number of commenters have discovered inconsistencies between the state machine description, and the MDIO register bit definitions. These changes are fundamental to the hubmib, because capabilities described in the state diagrams and registers represent the hardware capabilities on which any MIB is built. Our MIB specified in Clause 30 will be modified to agree with the state diagrams and register bit definitions. While some changes were communicated to Dan Romascanu, a number of contemplated changes have not yet been decided by the 802.3af Task Force. The 802.3af Task Force will be meeting to continue comment resolution at the end of January. The decisions made at that meeting and the resulting D4.1 will provide a more stable base of functionality for construction of the IETF hubmib for power Ethernet.
