early warning:

I disagree with Dave & Marshall's description of the history of the WG - 
especially in the circa-2000 timeframe, when I was chairing it.
I also disagree with their conclusions, and think that the best thing for 
the Internet is that the current documents be published on the standards 
track at this time.

I'm currently trying to gather some old notes in order to make more 
specific and well-documented comments about the history aspect.
