Folks, Here are the meeting minutes for Minn. Please comment. We will submit them at the end of the week. --Jim -------------------------------------------------------- IPO Meeting Minutes: IETF IP Over Optical WG (ipo) Tuesday, March 19th at 1545-1645 =================================== CHAIRS: Jim Luciani ([email protected]) Daniel Awduche ([email protected]) The following topics were discussed during the meeting: 1. Jim Luciani: Introduction, 2. Ong, "Optical Inter Domain Routing Considerations," draft-ietf-ipo-optical-inter-domain-01.txt, 3. Yong Xue, "Carrier Optical Services Requirements", draft-ietf-ipo-carrier-requirements-01.txt, 4. Osama Aboul-Magd, "Automatic Switched Optical Network (ASON) Architecture and Its Related Protocols," draft-ietf-ipo-ason-02.txt, 5. Kohei Shlomoto, "Requirements of optical link-state information for traffic engineering", draft-oki-ipo-optlink-req-00.txt, 6. Closing: Dan Awduche, 1. The meeting commenced with an overview of the IPO WG status provided by Jim Luciani: - The following are pending items that will be removed from the charter - Traffic engineering aspects - Requirements for distribution of topology state information ------ 2. draft-ietf-ipo-optical-inter-domain-01.txt -- presented by Ong - Jim Luciani indicated there are controversies concerning this work. - Ong stated the document is now half the original size. - Protocol specific aspects have been removed. - A stronger distinction has been made between inter-domain and intra-domain - BGP inter-domain protocol, but does not consider diversity - Closely related to OIF NNI - Study group 15, to define G.7715 (routing specifications, protocol independent aspects) - Question from Yong Xue -- work conflicts with ITU-T G.DCM, any prospects to continue this activity in the IPO WG? -- Jim Luciani responded -- need to take issue to mailing list. WG chairs need to adjucate. - Question from audience - overlap with OIF NNI -- is there any coordination. Answer - the work in the OIF is still very preliminary ------ 3. draft-ietf-ipo-carrier-requirements-01.txt, present by Yong - gave an overview of the present status of the document - two goals -- set of services from IPO networks - set of requirements from control plane to support service models - changes from last version -- significant editorial work to remove redundancy and increase readability of document - Separation of call control and connection control -- derived from ITU-T ASON documents -- carriers think this is an important requirement. - Two new functions for the management function -- (1) control the control plane, and (2) More security requirements - Will produce version 03 of the docucment, which will then be ready for WG last call. ------ 4. draft-ietf-ipo-ason-02.txt, presented by Osama - Relates IPO and CCAMP activities to ITU-T activities - Osama suggested work on the document is done, ready for WG last call - Chairs -- last call will be delayed until pertinent activities in the ITU-T are concluded. -- 5. draft-oki-ipo-optlink-req-00.txt, presented by Kohei Shlomoto - Requirements for optical link state information for traffic engineering - proposed requirements for optical link-state information for traffic engineering to solve the routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) problem in LNWC network. - different wavelength planes, where each plane corresponds to a network consisting of one wavelength - Need a label definition for wavelength definition: two aspects ( ) - Need to indicate wavelength status - Signaling protocol aspects -- carry explicit wavelength info in signaling ----- 6. Closing Remarks, presented by Daniel Awduche
