Hi Amit,
This depends on what are the applciations and requirements that will be 
fulfilled with this network. That would also drive the kind of 
protection (if thats what you meant by topology ) that you might be 
needing for your network. If you are planning to aggregate your legacy 
traffic (Like Ethernet, T1 etc ) or revenue generating high priority 
traffic then an ideal topology would be a 2 Fiber Bidirectionally Line 
Switched Ring (BLSR) due to the reliability and protection that will be 
yeilded by this configuration . At the same time non-protected channels 
could also be used for non-critical unprotected data ( like internal 
data traffic ) on the same ring.

If you intend to use this network to  switch the data between 
aggregation network elements than traditionally a linear 1:1 or 1+1 
protected configuration had been in use . Eventhough the BLSR topology 
is slowly emerging to be another choice with the host of different 
companies pitching into the metro core arena...
