On of the most obvious issues I see would be this: where would the user even find the firmware needed to update their particular printer?

Newer commercial printers may support firmware update using HTTPs, rather than all the legacy methods used for the last couple of decades.

I think basic printer settings would be a worthwhile goal.

Mopria has received questions from a customer regarding printer hardware management system:
Is there any thought or movement to create a consortium based printer management system in hardware? For instance, a common method amongst the vendors of setting the printer administration password, firmware update method, etc. That would be extremely helpful to their buyers as this can be very troublesome navigating all the myriad of unique vendor management options.

Has there been work on printer management system in the past? Are there any existing standards or PWG documents related to this topic?
