Focusing now on the details or which or how many prefixes it might use doesn’t address that. We designed the zero-touch routing architecture KIRA that uses 112 bit IDs with a 16 bit prefix to form "Unique" IPv6 addresses as routable NodeIDs. The advantage is that no address assignment is required. I'll update the currently expired draft https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-bless-rtgwg-kira/ soon. So this is a concrete use case.
