The IESG has approved the following document:

- 'LDAP: Uniform Resource Locator '
   <draft-ietf-ldapbis-url-09.txt> as a Proposed Standard

This document is the product of the LDAP (v3) Revision Working Group.

The IESG contact persons are Ted Hardie and Scott Hollenbeck.

Technical Summary

This document replaces RFC 2255, describing a format for a Lightweight DirectoryAccess
Protocol (LDAP) Uniform Resource Identifier. An LDAP URI
describes an LDAP search operation that is used to retrieve
information from an LDAP directory, or, in the context of an LDAP
referral or reference, an LDAP URI describes a service where an LDAP
operation may be progressed. These URIs are described as URLs
in the document in order to connect them to the description in RFC 2255,
but the text has otherwise been update to conform to RFC 2396bis.

Working Group Summary

The group came to consensus to propose this document as a standard.
There was an update after IETF Last Call in order to incorporate suggested
editorial changes.

Protocol Quality

This document was reviewd for the IESG by Ted Hardie. The working group
and LDAP directorate reviewed the changes made during Last Call.

IANA Note

It is requested that IANA update the registration of the
"ldap" URI scheme to reference this document.
