I agree that building on their work deserves a close look. I do not think it
realistic to
assume that an organization like the NADF should be expected to step up to
*deploying* a solution for a problem that they defined. The funding model for
such an activity requires more stability than NADF membership has demonstrated
over long periods of time.

That would surprise me since a number of us have been involved in one way or
another with NADF activities/meetings (at some point).

There was a document drafted during the original LSD WG's brief life
that dealt with ways to allow dc-based naming and X.500-based naming to
peacefully co-exist as well as on methods for interconnecting servers that are
deployed based on one naming scheme or the other. Perhaps the resurrection
of this document should be a topic for discussion at an LSD2 BOF.

I'd prefer the BOF be called FLASHBACK if it takes place. :)
