Here's my one paragraph summary of LSD2.

The LSD2 BOF presented various existing projects aimed at providing
directory users with the ability to access information from multiple
directory servers through the use of various kinds of information gathering.
The discussion made it reasonably clear that:
- There exists a need for discussing the issues encountered in these projects
- The issues mainly relate to service models, not protocol issues; there
are several ways to build service offerings on top of LDAP and friends.
But "strange" implementation choices and limited implementations cause real
problems in some of these possible service models, and deserve discussion.
- The term "service model" is far safer to use than "business model" when
describing services; pricing is Not To Be Discussed.
- It is not clear that the IETF is the Right Place to have these
discussions, but it is clear that a forum is needed.
- Several people volunteered to do work in this area. Discussions will
(hopefully) continue on the list.

Patrik Fältström took minutes; copies of presentations should be sent to
[email protected].

NOTE: I expect to be (mostly) offline for 3 weeks following the IETF.
Fully reconnected on August 8.
