Hello folks,

There was some discussion about AODVv2 shown in the [manet] minutes.
Here is some follow-up to that discussion.

I will be happy to update the draft as needed.  I recently posted a
slightly updated revision, and notified the mailing list about an
implementation in ns-3 that is currently in test.

The draft has been reviewed numerous times in the past.  The only
remaining issue that I am aware of, is that no implementation was
available.  Otherwise, I think the draft is publishable almost as is.

I hope the ns-3 implementation will be helpful for the expressed need of
an implementation.  More importantly in my mind, is that fact that AODV
has been implemented many times and shown to be quite scalable.  In
fact, AODV has been studied extensively around the world and, as noted,
even adapted for layer-2, etc.  AODVv2 has kept very closely to the same
design philosophy.  For this reason I am confident that implementations
for AODVv2 will share all the benefits shown by AODV.

Section 1.3 and Section 9 of draft-perkins-manet-aodvv2-05 would be of
particular interest for understanding the differences between AODV and
AODVv2.  Conformance to RFCs 5444 and 7182 caused a lot of text to be
changed and added to the document.

Regards,
Charlie P.
