Hi,

I have read this thread and there seems to be some interest in the
problem Fred Templin has presented but a feeling that we want
something closer to a problem statement than a solution in the
Charter. Checking with the other co-Chairs, we think the best thing
might be a gap analysis. What do people think about the following
wording:

"MANET routing protocols discover multi-hop IP forwarding paths within
a bounded networking region. Such regions need to be able to operate
autonomously when isolated and to provide Internet access when they
are connected to the Internet including access to nodes in other MANET
regions also connected to the Internet. Nodes in such MANET regions
may have multiple interfaces that need to be configured. These
services might be provided through an overlay architecture. The
working group will analyze existing standard protocols and established
practices to identify gaps in providing these services."

Thanks,
Donald
