Digitmap - Clarification on long short timer

Hi All
I need some clarification on the inter digit timers in H248.16
If I have digit map 1SX | 1SX55 and after I dialled "1"
Q1. It will switch to short timer, and after the timer has expired what will happen?
Will it fall back to the default timing rules or continuing use the short timer?
Q2. After the short timer has expired, then I dial "1" will it immediately matches "1SX" or
it will wait for the short timer to expire to match "1SX".
