In order to respond to this "yes"/"no" change to semantics to be reflected
in the MIB only, I need to point out, in accordance with RFC 3668, that
Nortel Networks may have a patent or patent application that may relate to a
Contribution or to a portion of this proposed Internet Draft
(draft-ietf-midcom-semantics-08), or may potentially be considered necessary
for practicing portion(s) of a resulting IETF Standard based on this
proposed standard draft. If, after analysis with our Intellectual Property
Law Group, this patent or patent application is determined as may be
necessary to practice this proposed standard, then the appropriate patent
disclosure will be submitted to the IETF IPR disclosures.

That all said, and independent of the IPR, as I mentioned at the meeting
(prior to becoming aware of the potential IPR), I think the WG made a
conscious decision with the agreements reflected in the semantics document
and it's not clear to me that there is a compelling reason for the MIB to
not align with the semantics, so my response is "no".

Regards,
Mary

Subject: [midcom] call for consensus on proposed semantic change

There's been some discussion about whether or not midcom's semantics
should be changed so that the PER and PRR inputs would contain hop-by-
hop descriptions rather than end-to-end descriptions. If you support
this change please post "yes" to the mailing list; if you do not support
this change please post "no."

The change would be reflected in changes to the existing MIB draft but
not to the published semantics RFC.

Thanks,

Melinda
