Nortel's IPR disclosure on MIDCOM Semantics

Dear all,

The authors of the MIDCOM semantics have received the below note on 
Nortel's IPR disclosure with respect to the semantics Internet draft.

The U.S. patent filed July 5th, 2000 6,772,210 on "Method and apparatus
for exchanging communications between telephone number based devices in an
internet protocol environment" is believed to contain claims that are 
necessary to practicing the resulting IETF Standard based on this Internet
Draft.

I have read the patent document and double-checked with existing prior work 
on the topics being claimed.  The invention described in the document is 
(claim 1 to 30) is a twice-NAT mechanism, described in all flavours. The 
remaining clams (31 to 71) describes a Voice over IP application level 
gateway that controls the twice-NAT in order to establish Voice over IP 
(VoIP) communication through it.  Generally, the invention is described for 
"telephone number based device" and written in a way that saying broad 
would be an understatement.

As other references only RFC 1631 "The IP Network Address Translator" is 
given, plus several other U.S. patents.  The referenced U.S. patents have 
not been cross checked by myself.
