Yes. This is where L2 triggers require a "protocol." A protocol 
between a wired-to-wireless bridge and an attached host is required
to communicate certain L2 events (link down, link up, ..) to
the interested parties. Please see

of such a protocol, and types of L2 events they are interested in.
