Don't get me wrong : I agree that proposed extension is useful. (And it
would be dead easy to implement the extended RETR in our server, for
example.) I just concerned about adding too much advanced functionality
to POP3.
IMAP community spent several years convincing client writers to do this
right. You have to convince POP3 server and client writers that they
must add such functionality to their products.
