I think they're also being targeted for the access space.  E.g. remote 
sites accessing a core network, where the virtual network is not a core 
application but an access appllication.

People by best-effort services all the time.  They pay less for them of 
course, but best-effort service isn't uncommon.

I know you have a particular application in mind and therefore the 
requirements you put forth make sense for that application.  But the 
technology can and should be applicable to other deployment scenarios 
and applications.
