Nobody said  that existing routers  and bridges should  not be able  to work
properly with VPLS.   What is at issue is the extent  to which this requires
absolutely perfect emulation. 

Cheng-Yin>  I am afraid the WG may not be producing useful work. 

Suppose the WG  produced something which only handled  99.9% of the existing
base.  Would this be "not useful"?
