In any case, I would suspect that for some period of time the number of typical 
PPVPN nodes will lag behind the state of the art in number of access nodes 
hitting a radius server. If not, then PPVPN will simply become an additional 
driver for making these improvements (improvements that of course need to be 
done anyway).
