[saag] Securing QUIC with MLS

I am following up to double-check on the plan for a speaking slot at the upcoming meeting to share work on “Securing QUIC with MLS” (draft-tian-quic-quicmls-01) with the general security area, as confirmed as a plan for this IETF in the invitation below. The draft covers key security and functional considerations, especially driven by the TIPTOP working group efforts. The presentation would cover use case considerations and our proposal on how to use existing IETF protocol work to address security concerns. We would share the considerations with the area community, solicit security engagement in the space considerations efforts, and gather feedback on approach.

I appreciate the invitation. A presentation at SAAG seems orthogonal to a discussion on QUIC variants in the QUIC WG (which is apparently under the decision control of the TIPTOP chairs based on their prior directive to the QUIC chairs). However, I concur that community awareness and input is a good thing and can help bring in other relevant people.



After speaking to the co-authors, there is concurrence that such a presentation in SAAG – in parallel to the QUIC WG – would be appreciated, but that the timeframe is short for this IETF to create a presentation that suitably introduces an audience that may not have close familiarity with either QUIC or space before diving into technical comparison points. Our existing presentation files assume some familiarity / are not tailored for SAAG. If sharing with an audience new to the discussion, we would want to ensure that the presentation provides adequate framing. In terms of timing then, perhaps we can have that type of presentation at the next IETF?



That's fair. We will gladly have you present at the next IETF.
