That's odd, I could have sworn the IETF defined MPLS-TE, VPLS, PWE3, BGP/MPLS L3VPNs, tunnel-mode IPsec, SOCKS, and TURN.  Has anyone notified the relevant WG's to notify them they don't belong in the IETF religious sect?
