All, Getronics Government Solutions generated the section 11.5 sample message included in the "Examples of S/MIME Messages" I-D. We agree that there should not be a trailing zero present in the GeneralizedTime value as per the X.690 DER rules. We will generate a new message with a corrected GeneralizedTime value for inclusion in the next version of the Examples I-D. =========================================== John Pawling, [email protected] Getronics Government Solutions, LLC =========================================== -----Original Message----- From: Vamsi Motukuru [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, January 08, 2001 4:14 PM To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Subject: message with a mlExpansionHistory attribute Hi, In the ESS example 11.5 which is a message with the mlExpansionHistory attribute, the expansionTime field in the ASN1 type MLData contains a GeneralizedTime value which appears to be incorrect. Here is a portion of example 11.5. 749 30 234: SEQUENCE { 752 30 231: SEQUENCE { 755 04 7: OCTET STRING : 35 37 33 38 32 39 39 764 18 16: GeneralizedTime '199903111044330Z' 782 A1 201: [1] { 785 30 198: SEQUENCE { 788 A4 97: [4] { The GeneralizedTime value contains a "0" after the seconds value(33). I think this is not allowed in an ASN.1 GeneralizedTime but I could be wrong. Thanks, -- Vamsi <[email protected]>
