Virtualization has emerged as an active research area recently. While =20= the majority of virtualization research and development is focused =20 towards OS and server level virtualization, it has to evolve more =20 globally into an Internet scale model where the network or Internet =20 will be virtualized in a way that is yet to evolve. The concept of =20 virtualization in various forms is prevalent in the networking world, =20= such as VLAN, VPN, VPLS and lately with virtual routers. But =20 virtualization may evolve into control, data and so-called knowledge =20 plane virtualization and more global wide area virtualization =20 involving control, data and knowledge planes and other new concepts of =20= virtualization.
