According to the W3C publishes Verifiable Credentials 2.0 as a W3C Standard
press release
<https://www.w3.org/press-releases/2025/verifiable-credentials-2-0/> and
linked news item
<https://www.w3.org/news/2025/the-verifiable-credentials-2-0-family-of-specifications-is-now-a-w3c-recommendation/>
the vc-cose-jose document is among the items published this week as a W3C
Recommendation. That document still has the "application/vp+sd-jwt" media
type in Securing JSON-LD Verifiable Presentations with SD-JWT
<https://www.w3.org/TR/2025/REC-vc-jose-cose-20250515/#securing-vps-sd-jwt> and
the associated IANA section
<https://www.w3.org/TR/2025/REC-vc-jose-cose-20250515/#vp-json-sd-jwt>. I
honestly don't know if the WC3 VC WG plans to request registration of all
the media types that standard already says it registers, but if that comes
to pass, I hope that having already been published as a standard is not
considered justification to register a media type that arguably shouldn't
exist in the first place.
