Good morning Vance. This is a good start.

Do you need to have “json” as both part of the type and the format? That is, would “application/vnd.tmforum.patch-query+json” be sufficient and/or better? That is, is it 1) a “patch query” that is being expressed in JSON? Or is it 2) a “patch query for JSON objects” that is being expressed in JSON?  If #1, then making it “application/vnd.tmforum.patch-query+json” might be more appropriate.

I’m not saying that you must make a change. However, you should answer the question to yourself and make a decision one way or the other. (There may be additional considerations that mandate the type to be what you wrote.)

When you register this with IANA, you will have to fill in the form in section 5.6 of RFC6838.
