Hi Murray and Darrell,
This registration request has been pending since June. Murray, we had a special call about this registration request with yourself, Brian Campbell, Brent Zundel, and me on Monday, August 18th. You were going to ask the IESG for opinions about the registration during their meeting that week. Since that, we haven't heard anything.
As we discussed in August, yes, perhaps the W3C can revise the specification to address Brian's concerns with the nature of the specification in the future, but him asking to change a W3C Recommendation (a final specification) https://www.w3.org/TR/vc-jose-cose/ is beyond the scope of IANA request processing. The existing specification text is clear, even if Brian takes exception to what it does. Furthermore, Brian was in the W3C Verifiable Credentials working group that created that specification text, and while he was a dissenter, the specification is the result of working group consensus. Brent Zundel was the working group chair and ably ensured that the working group reached the best consensus available.
I therefore request that this registration be approved so we can all move on. This has consumed an inordinate amount of people's time and emotional energy. Brian agrees with this sentiment as well.
