This makes it a very very valid point that API definitions are not the
right way to document string-catalogs such as media types, clipboard
flavour names, or uniform type identifiers!
In a sense the media-types process is an excellent example of a registry
whose maintenance has now been proven since long. I wish that this
becomes more generalised, e.g. following W3C’s registry practices
(https://www.w3.org/policies/process/#registry).
