   Your observation about OID is interesting.  At the meeting where it was
   discussed, the "immutability" of it was seen as a benefit.  I can agree that
   when companies restructure, merge or split, they still have to deal with who
   gets the OID space, but I think the point was that the appearance of the URL
   scheme would not change, just the behind-the-scenes ownership.  The problem

Well, yes and no.  In theory, each OID goes with a name so if the name
changes, the OID is supposed to change.

This is not an area that people have a lot of experience with, so the 
difference between theory and practice is fuzzy at best.

   Will you be at the Minneapolis meeting next week?  Perhaps we need to do a
   lunch or bar session; I'll talk with my co-chair, and we will put a notice
   on the board if we organize something.  Otherwise, he's in a lot of the
   security sessions, and I'm in a lot of the app-area sessions -- grab us and
   bend our ears.  :-)  

I won't be at the meeting in general, but I can make any particular
time/place.
