this is both for larry and chris:
the question "Proxy into HTTP/HTML" in my original note was not required
to require alll URL schemes to have such a gateway, but to elicit an
indication whether such a gateway was easy, possible or impossible.
For examples of gateway=impossible, consider the telnet URL, the
VEMMI URL and the z39.50 session URL.
For examples of gateway=easy, consider the (still nonexistent) finger URL.
