Strange, I've been thinking the opposite, that the possible presence of a 
NICKNAME supports the notion that FN might be derived from some type other 
than N. I guess an example of someone who might want their FN to be based 
on their NICKNAME would be Lenin.

Even with "English" names, the mapping will vary from person to person (no 
way would I ever use FN: Philip A Barker).
