Good point about the Nickname, though there is the complication that
Nicknames often replace the entire name, as in Dubya, while here we're
talking of the Nickname holding just a part of the complete name.

Re the case of Lenin, mentioned by Phil, I think this is more a case of
multiple Family names, as his full adopted name was Vladimir Ilyich
Lenin (as opposed to his original name of Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov).

I love real-world examples!

I can imagine a search operation that would be flexible enough to
include multiple fields, and consequently be able to find you whether
the search was for Misha or Michael. On the other hand, I don't know how
I'm supposed to include you in a sorted list of names displayed in a
PDA.

Also, how do you decide when to use the Nickname type as opposed to
entering multiple entries into the N type? For example, why not use
Nickname:Misha, instead of N:Wolf;Michael,Misha;Joseph? Using the
Nickname type would avoid the sorting ambiguity associated with having
multiple entries.
