I am happy to to see discussion about XPointer and media types, and
encourage it. Nevertheless, I believe that there are no problems in
promoting the latest I-D to an RFC.
Since XPointer is not a W3C recommendation but rather a candidate
recommendation, the latest I-D merely mentions it and does NOT
reference it in a normative manner.
After publication of a proposed standard, XPointer and SVG will
probably be promoted to W3C recommendations. I hope to incorporate
necessary changes when we publish another RFC for XML media types.
