The first line (after the introduction) from the package
runs,

    `The problem is that the record companies are
    copy-protecting all the latest CDs in an attempt to stop
    piracy.'

The interviewer does ask,

    `Are you sure it's not the places you're buying the
    CDs from?'

but this is a hook to get the victim to explain the
problem:

    `No, I'm sure....'

The piece is actually pretty good, and the chap from the
BPI is made to look a fool (which he is). The man from VW
explains that the VW CD players follow the standard and
points out that the `copy-protected' `CDs' do not meet the
standard and that the CD manufacturers need to sort
themselves out. The VW bloke was even given the last word,
which is quite important in a radio programme like this.

And the trail on the website runs,

    We get to the bottom of a problem which is driving VW
    owners round the bend. Why the CD player in their car
    will play some compact disks but not others. Matt
    Phillips from the British Phonographic Industry and
    Paul Bucket from VW explain how copy protected CDs are
    the problem.

I think I'd put this down to fucking idiotic reporting by
the unprofessional bozos at the Register. There's a
current in British political life to blame any problem on
BBC `bias'. This is completely fucking stupid and I wish
the people who go on and on about it would shut the fuck
up, or at least listen to the fucking program before they
mouth off about it.
