There is an interesting article on page 3 of the times this morning
about the academic that managed to claim copyright on transcription of
an old (out of copyright) piece of work by changing a single note.

Never thought i'd be on the side of the record industry in a copyright
debate.

Said the judge:
"I am not convinced that one can reject a claim to copyright in a new
version of a musical work simply because the editorial composer has made
no significant changes to the notes."
