Looks like Taiwan has adopted DMCA-like anti-circumvention provisions to appease the US http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/biz/archives/2004/08/26/2003200286 The last attempt was thrown out by Taiwan's legislature. This time it was smuggled in, Fourtou-esque, during an emergency session (the legislature does not normally sit at this time) intended to deal with constitutional issues. Whether it will shoot itself in the other foot and adopt software patents remains to be seen...
