OT: The rise of Christian Fascism / The Corporation

Way off-topic, sorry.  

This came up through a Google ad-link, would you believe, so this guy
is paying to get this message out to people [*].  Anyway, I thought it
was interesting:

Reading more Lietaer, it seems like Lietaer connects the normal money
system (i.e. interest: paying money to people with money, taking money
from people without money (== debt)) somehow with sliding into fascism
and all that.  Apparently in the 1930s there were lots of alternative
(cooperative) currencies around, but the central banks of various
nations crushed these thriving local efforts.  This killed local
employment and so on, becoming part of the slide into WWII.  I would
need to read it again to explain it better.

Also, it occurs to me that the rule makers and rule enforcers are not
necessarily bad, just mindless.  It is just that they need to be
directed better (by who or what, though?).  For example, the supply of
organic food does seem to be working, and that gave rule-makers and
enforcers plenty of fun bureaucracy to design, implement and enforce.

This all very much links into the film "The Corporation" as well, if
anyone hasn't seen it yet.
