Bad-CD (and DVD?) update

I have just changed the CD pages to indicate that they are frozen, and
caught up with the final messages before I fly off (on Sunday!):

One thing of interest:

A correspondent has noticed that some of his DVDs are now installing
their own special DVD players, just like some of the audio CDs now do.
This is a new twist (to me, anyway).  Is this only to enable extra
PC-specific features, or is there more to all this?  Are they slipping
in driver changes to block other DVD-playing software?  Well, maybe it
is one to watch.


The two DVDs tested were:

  "The Turnaround Tour" (Westlife concerts)
  "Notting Hill"

In both cases the software installed was from Interactual:
